About the St Lucia Learning Project



The St. Lucia Learning Project is made up of 3 major components:
School Programs
  • Children's morning programs
  • Teacher's afternoon workshops and mentoring
Camp Sylvester
  • 42 rural children who attend school
  • Learning enriched programming
  • 2 nutritious meals per day
  • Educational field trips
  • Life skills training and Junior Leadership programs
  • Nurturing, caring atmosphere
Women's Mentoring Program
  • Establishing long term, caring relationships with the women of the village of Anse La Verdure
  • Providing a safe place to learn about each others lives and offer encouragement
  • Lessons in knitting, crocheting, needlework, beadwork, and painting
  • Fitness program
  • Adult Literacy in conjunction with program in Canaries
Who are the volunteers of the St. Lucia Learning Project?
  • Self-supporting Canadian volunteers committed to coming alongside a special group of children and the adults of influence in their lives
  • Adults from 18 to ? who are in good physical health
  • People with a desire to reach out to others with caring and compassion and the motivation to serve others before self
  • Those with a sense of adventure, a sense of humour, flexibility, and the ability to work and live as part of a team
